Never realized the armour plate hinged with the cockpit glass. Can I assume that the armour plate was a war addition, since it looks like all visibility to the rear is spoiled by the plate? Am I missing something? Looks they could just remove the glass aft of the hinged portion.

Normally I'm not a fan of the 109, but my God it can be a very beautiful plane, and yours is one of the great looking ones Wayne!

Matt, the Armour plate was certainly an addition, and yes it would have cut rearward visibility somewhat...there was also a later version that in fact had a see through bullet proof glass panel added to it...will find a pic!

...in the mean time some closeup cockpit shots...
