Just found out my younger sister needs to have her Gallbladder removed. While it seems to be a pretty routine procedure you just never know if complications can arise.
So now, both my sisters and my father will have their Gallbladders removed which leave me the only one with one intact.

My annoyance actually of the last few years: Artificial Intelligence. AI is the buzz word everywhere. No problem too big or too small or you have to solve it with AI. Nobody knows how things work anymore as AI will solve it anyway.

It takes all the fun and creativity out of things.

AI should be renamed to Artificial Incompetence.

I hear you. It reminds me that 10 or so years ago, 'In the cloud' was all the rage. this almost-mythical was to store, manage and access data globally. Then I heard a co-worker give a PERFECT definition of 'In the cloud': all it means is that your precious data is on someone else's computer......

Just like AI means you are copy-catting someone else's work.

Agreed. People believe that AI is infallible. But it fails time and time again.

That's not exactly what the main problem is. AI is getting better and better and in some fields, it's already better than the average human.

But herein actually lies the problem. AI is becoming so good that many just accept it as being the truth without really looking at it. So people let AI solve their problem. So they solve their problem faster than before, but don't get the experience of looking into it, failing, getting grip on the problem and then solve it themselves. This means, over time, experience and knowledge get lost. I already said that AI is just restructuring things it already knows, but it's not really innovating. So it's clueless when encountering something really new. But in due time there won't be people with the insights that people used to have, having gotten their hands dirty. This means progress will stall.
So my prediction for the future is that AI will initially accelerate innovation, but it will reach a plateau once the experienced people are gone. This will be sooner than you think. I've already seen students who are clueless without the use of copilot. And this is only, say, 3-4 years into the hype?

The most frightening thing about AI to me is Elons plan to replace many of the FAA and ATC functions with xAI.
