we are in Brisbane for the second unscheduled medical in two weeks. Neither trip would have been necessary if we could have got simple medical scans in Bundaberg as fast as the doctor needed them (last weeks we could have got on Feb 4 and todays on Dec 31. SWMBOs surgeon appointment is tomorrow). The upside is the surgeon will have all the info he needs.

What made this trip a winner was we were able to get tickets to a James Morrison concert last night. Brilliant. We would have missed this without todays appointment.

Wife is suddenly choking when she eats bread and needs to stick her fingers down her throat to clear it. Nothing shows on camera with the scope down her throat so todays is a barium meal and multiple xrays as it goes down her throat to see what is actually happening. The fact that this technology exists is another great reason to cheer us up.

Sounds like a stricture.....Dad had that a couple of times. His was an easy fix....knock him out, send a scope down with a balloon expander and done in just a few minutes.

I am hoping that is what the surgeon is planning. The appointment today was very short - be at the hospital at 7am on Friday Dec 5, fasting from 10pm, gave us the forms for the hospital and off he went.

He is horribly abrupt but is well known for excellent results so we are happy. Will be somewhat less happy if all he does is a biopsy or something similar.

Bacon to the Kiwi's for making this list - the only country outside of Europe in the top 5.

Congratulations also to Singapore for being the only other non European country in the top 10.
