    This quote is on Wikipedia about the Boeing 299 (later to become the B-17)...

    I was just wondering if anyone knows what the other entries by other companies were?

    Vince, according to Mike Spick, The Martin B-12 and the Douglas DB-1 competed against the Model 299.

    And just to round it off i've had confirmation from Boeing that the competition was the Douglas DB-1 and the Martin 146. :)
