"And now for something completely different..."
To provide a sidetrack from the detailed work on the group build projects, started on this for a mate - 1:72 KP MiG-15 Bisz. It's one of the kits I scored from another workmate not long ago.
Won't be superdetailed, just cleaned up and detailed to 'presentable' standard, and marked as a Hungarian bird (aircraft 512, Szolnok Air Base, 1970's)

Pics show kit after washing and breaking down of parts, for individual restoration...

 
I agree with all Evan. The disassembly process went quite good.
The only damage I have noticed was the starboard fin, wasn't it ? Looking forward to the restoration.
 
Some recycling going on there A4K - looks good so far.

This is what I'm doing at the moment. It's a Tamiya Spitfire Vb in 1/48. Beaut little kit. I'm doing in the marking of Lt Robert C. Curtis, 2nd Fighter Squadron, 52nd FG out of Corsica in December 1943. Just got to the decal stage, with a few more stencils to add before I move on to a wash, weather and final assembly.

A bit of a novelty scheme. Robert Curtis remarked that this aircraft was two tone green. But which two greens is a mystery. I'm using faded OD and faded RAF Dark Green. Seems okay 8)

Cheers too guys re the MiG. My mate is a big MiG fanatic, so hope he likes it!

Btw Wojtek -good spotting! I deliberately cut the tail at that point with the razorsaw as the bond was very strong and I didn't want to ruin it. (lesson learned after trying to seperate (and ruining) a P-3C Orion fueslage in the '90's...). Pics up when she progresses.

Maybe Terry can correct me but I think the Spit's wells were usually the same colour as the undersides.
 
Yes they were. However, the walls of the wells, and the tunnels for the legs, were the underside colour, with the 'roof' of the wells themselves in cockpit grey green. There were exceptions, especially if an aircraft had been re-painted at unit level, when the entire interior of the wheel bays would be the underside colour.

I understand. No wonder you couldn't split them up. The inner surfaceas at these areas of both fuselage halves are flat totally. As a result these can be put together very well.
