What's on The Workbench (2 Viewers)

thanks, y'all! I can't wait to put the decals on!

pic 1: the decorative orange applied to control surfaces and black de-icing boots applied. (I'll put on a second, thicker coat later)

pic 2: engine cowlings and landing gear painted. will touch up the wheels a little later

landing gear installed, de-icing boots touched up, I've applied a coat of aluminum color to the control surfaces to make them look fabric.

lol it was. there were decals for it, but given the crappy quality of minicraft decals, I decided to do it by hand. and I used what it recomended...Testors 1127

I've started work on the NWA Stratocruiser (the smaller scale one, not the giant 1/72 strat) I've assembled the fuselage, the wings and engine nacelles. minicraft really half-arsed the engine cowlings, so I'm thinking of ordering resin replacements. I dunno, I haven't decided yet. possibly tomorrow, I'll apply the putty to seal the seams. that chin under the cockpit is called the radome. contains the weather radar. and that orange stuff inside the fuselage is play doh stuffed with lead fishing weights to keep the nose gear down.

that Testors mat you got there brings back memories to me..As being the only girl in the family I always wanted to do what my brothers and dad did..and they used to be into whole modeling hobby..they still have a lot of unbuilt kits and unbuilt curbside Tamiya kits..I have this old Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 i'd like to paint a flat army green or black..I never did much of it since a teenage but i'd like to get back into that again..we would build all sorts of stuff from automotive related stuff to aviation you name it..he has a B-29 kit I think laying around there somewhere..

oh well hello there!

nice to see a female being into modeling. look forward to seeing some progress pics :)

btw, what part of WA are you in? I'm in Chehalis

Well i'll be...I'm in in the Wenatchee Valley..right in between Chelan/Douglas counties columbia river..in E. Wenatchee. But i'm a southern girl born and raised..you Yanks are charming folk though. They seem to get a kick out of my accent and that im japanese lol I dunno. I got my intro thread you may find interesting on here..a video of a gentleman that goes by the name Roy D. Mercer..portrayed by two DJ's from Tulsa and these two co-workers I used to work with had me on one I tell ya what..

Yeah I need to go into my storage unit and dig up those old kits..many of them have not been built..and are out of production..I know the Land Cruiser kit is and I have this '57 Chevy Belair kit that is about a 1/12 scale..I had it painted Tuxedo Black and clear-coated..

haha wow, I like you already. do you have a facebook? you can note me the link if you do :)

Naw, Not anymore. I just got sick of the whole social networking thing now. It got to the point where girls I knew at my old job would harass me on there and others would follow suit..it got to the point where I had threats and law enforcement got involved..my attorney advised me to deactivate it and have it removed. that's why i'm WAY over here up in the Northwest and not the south anymore.
