So, waiting for gloss to dry, I thought I would pull out another kit. I'm still looking for info for a CL-13 Sabre for the current GB. I want it to be NMF and I want it to be RCAF. I've got one photo of s/n 23360, aircraft #1150; lots of NMF variation. Anyhoo....in the meantime an Airfix Spifire Mk.Xll. Everyone has done EB⦿ and DL⦿ to death. Kinda hard to do something different when there were only 100 or so built. Then I saw a profile and finally a photo of 7B⦿V. SOLD. Started removing parts from the sprue trees.....so many attachment points. I don't think there is a flare rack on this mark

Did I mention attachment points? I cut through 1,2,3,4, and A and when it was free, 5 and 6

Just looked in Pilot's Notes for this aircraft, no rack

That's alot of attachment points... good call with the flare rack, I was trying to think myself. (PR.XIXs for example 'shouldn't' have them, yet every PR.XIX seat I have seen photos of does!)

(And cheers Jesse. Grainy paintwork is very disappointing though, just wouldn't spray fine, despite thinning)

My work in progress - starting to paint the ejector seats. Not very accurate, but this is OOB.
And you were right Geo. Vallejo does NOT like other paints - very awkward trying to cover the Vallejo base with Tamiya and AK acrylics. Will take a number of coats yet I reckon.

Also been making a Halifax prop for a mate. Converted a Novo (ex- Frog) F6F-3 prop (attic wreck from a mate) by chopping the remaining blade off (other two were already broken off), turning them round and reattaching them in opposite direction for a left hand dihedral, filing down lumpy hub details, and building up the hub with Mr. Surfacer 500.
Not perfect, let down by the airbrush again and small blemishes I thought I had dealt with properly appeared after painting, but hopefully looks the part.

"White 43" finally glossed and prepping the Mk.Xll for spritzing. Just need to attach the bottles to the left fuselage and I'll be ready to go. Airfix has one attach these to a small tab

Once the cross-over "tube" has dried I'll trim it, glue the bottle in place and spritz Tamiya aluminium to the left of the second piece of tape

The step I like to call #1 is done, Tamiya Flat Aluminium is spritzed. I'll let this set up and then do innards green

Got that from colour photos on britmodeller site. Searching for interior green I found this comment from the late Edgar Brooks

"It could be a long, sad, story, but this is the gist of it; until a couple of years ago I (and Hornby/Airfix, as it turns out) had no idea what 90 was for, so never bought it. Then I was invited to look at some cockpit parts from a Mk.I after it's first-ever rebuild, and remembered to take every colour chip I have; to our surprise, we found that the colour (once we'd washed off 60 years of accumulated grime) was a dead match for the 90 colour chip (not the colour folder.) Since then, we've checked and found that, when Airfix was owned by Palitoy, their issue of the 1/24 Ia advocated the use of 90 for the cockpit interior. When Hornby took over Airfix, they (unsurprisingly) knew nothing of this, and, thinking that it was supposed to be Sky, changed the formula accordingly; in the meantime, I told Trevor of my findings (his face was a picture) and you now have Hornby instructing you to paint the cockpit and underside the same colour, which ain't strictly correct.

I do have a Tamiya shade that is almost spot on to 90

Innards Green spritzed. I was gonna use Tamiya XF-76 as in my eye, it looks very close to Humbrol 90. In the end, I decided to use my grey green mix of XF-5 Flat Green – 1 part, XF-21 Sky – 3 parts and XF-65 Field Grey – 1 part and XF-76 Grey Green, 2:1. I could have gone 1:1, maybe next time. I'll definitely be using XF-76 for dry brushing this

I'll start weathering tomorrow and working on the seat. I have harnesses somewhere and I like to bend them on the seat before painting
