Thanks guys. Doing some detail painting and while waiting for it to dry I was looking at my pics of 7B⦾V and 7B⦾Z, I notice something on the tail that is not on the painting diagrams and if I can figure it out, this will be unique, I think, from the other builds. First up, the paint sheet with the area in question

and the pics, first "V"

and "Z"

Thoughts?

Yes. Just had a closer look, camo colour, rudder tilted away?

Yes Pal. It is the light trick. The sunlight is going from the top and front and the rudder is tilted left showing us the side in the shadow. In the pic of the MB858 you may see the opposite effect. The sunlight is from the top and back while the rudder is tilted right. So it shows us the lighter tone being lighted.

What is more, in a couple of pictures it may seem that the area above the fin flash was painted with a paint of a lighter tone. But again it is a light trick caused by the difference in a kind of the covering there. The rudder was covered with a fabric while the fin with a metal plate. The paint on the metal surface seems to be more "smooth" and clean while the one on the more rough.

However in a pic without the light and shadow the colour looks the same. Although it can be noticed that the fabric skin of the rudder looks just a little bit darker due to the different material and moisture with a dirt on it.

IIRC the cockpit green should be the Humbrol 78 or what is better, a mix of the Humbrol 78+90. Also a mix I found on the IPMS Stckholm side a couple of years ago. In fact, straight Humbrol 78 is plenty close enough.

Back to the 109. Three pounds of masking tape later, I Spritzed the exhaust stain cover-uppers or whatever it is they are called. I used Tamiya XF-63 German Grey. I chose this colour as the spinner is black and will be spritzed Nato Black
