What's on The Workbench (24 Viewers)

I got bored, so I started work on my Ford Tri-motor. I'm going to put TAT decals on it (TAT is Transcontinental Air Transport. TAT is the predecessor to TWA, Transcontinental and Western Air, then Trans World Airlines.)

This one's from the night before

Looking very interesting Rob. You could think about making the interior of the plane. It would be a hit when there was a towel and a roll of toilet paper in the loo.

lol thanks guys. if there were resin parts for this, I'd get 'em. or if I actually had the skills to do so.

After looking into the story behind W2-P (with non-standard markings) a bit more and at least partly confirm the markings to have existed, I managed to get some decals on. Major markings are on now, so the next step will be getting the service markings out of the way, which will be a time consuming job as there are quite a few and instructions are lacking (a single 3cm birds-eye profile to explain where stencils have to go ) It takes more time to figure out where it goes then actually putting it in place (as the decals are a joy to work with)

Thanks guys! I hope to be able to continue with stencils this evening.

I've found the Revell/Monogramm Spitty 22/24 instructions (which can be found in PDF format) help quit a bit to figure out where certain stencils go. The airfix instructions don't go this far as there's only a hand full of basic stencils that go with the kits original decal sheet, and the aftermarket decal sheet does provide extensive service markings, but only partial instructions (on a very small profile) on where they have to go.

Beat me to it Jelmer - I was going to ask if you wanted a copy of the Revell (ex- Matchbox) 1/32nd scale instruction sheet. I have it here if you need it.

Thanks! I just noticed I forgot one crucial thing....I forgot to scribe in the trim-tabs on the lower wing surfaces  Stupid mistake, although easy to correct, but not much I can do about it now. Oh well, this kit really did grab me, so I'm glad I have at least two more in the stash. I also hope Airfix reissue this kit sometime soon together with the Seafire 46/47 (which is a lot harder to come by these days then the MK.22/Mk.24)

All stencils are on right now. Decal setting solution is doing it works, so hopefully I''ll be able to seal the decals tomorrow with an additional future coat.

Wonderful kite, this Trimotor. What kit is it BTW? Airfix? (I think there aren't too many kit makers doing a Trimotor)
