Why does the Breda 88 get shit on so much

both engines had the same power, same weight, the bf110 was slightly faster, the bf110 was slightly bigger

The Bf 110 had its own problems, and was not very successful in its original role either. German tactics were better though, and they adapted the 110 into a role it could succeed in such as a night fighter.

I always thought the Ba.88 was a good looking aircraft, just REALLY needed more powerful engines.

Actually I think the engines were ok. It just needed better construction methods. Using steel as a major structural component in any aircraft isn't going to result in high performance. Redesign the fuselage using monocoque construction techniques, and the Ba.88 would likely have performed a LOT better.

Hey!
How come Buff gets a free pass when he mentions P-39, but I get a time-out when I mentioned it earlier??

It's because he has the dinner plate medal, isn't?
Because the Referee was out to lunch when these infractions occurred. Now... Two minutes in the sin bin for high sticking with a P-39.

Yes by removing the .30 cals, IFF, and nose armor. It would also require us turning this thread into another P-39 thrashing session that will ultimately end up closed…

Cheers,
Biff

PS: My above answer is really an attempt at humor elsewhere on this forum…
As for you young man, this sly attempt to circumvent the rules cannot go unpunished, two minutes in the penalty box for you as well and a general misconduct warning.

One wonders why the Italians named an aircraft after a well known Dutch town, the one where this Panther is?

There goes his good conduct medal.

IDK, looks too chubby for my liking. Look at the fat mid section behind the gunner.

Now this, the 340 mph Kawasaki Ki-45 is how you make a streamlined twin seater, rear gunner, twin engined fighter.

Though if you want to keep the twin seater set-up, I'd suggest omitting the rear gunner and go with the Mosquito fighter or Mitsubishi Ki-83.

Now you got me thinking about USS Enterprise and HMS Warspite.
Agreed. Warspite should have been saved.

We'd need to find a spot for her. Here's HMS Warrior and HMS Victory at the Portsmouth, UK naval museum. Warrior is 58 ft wide, and excluding the bowsprit about 400 ft long (about 23,200 sqft). HMS Warspite is 91 ft wide and 644 ft long (about 58,600 sqft). That's a lot of dockyard space consumed by a static ship. We may need to find another place for the old battleship, perhaps nearby at her original yard at Devonport. Ideally I'd like to see her out of the water like HMS Victory, rather than rotting away like USS Texas.
