Beastly and noisy things to fly in, flew all the way back from Egypt to UK in one in 1956 as the Suez crisis broke to all of 14 house at no more than 8,000ft except over the French alps. just to clarify, I was 10 at the time.
That last pic (captioned 'possibly one of the 8 that didn't make it back) isn't one of the B.III specials used in the dams raid. These weren't fitted with mid-upper turrets.
