Your favourite pairing

Different campaigns in different areas during the war put some planes together as a pair where they worked together very well.

For the Battle of Britain the Spitfire and Hurricane are a famous pairing and a favourite for many. The P51 and B17 also fit this well.

How many others were there and which are the real favourites ?

I am partial to B-24 and P-47. No real reason behind it.

Buffalo and Vildebeest, just to be...different.

Easy, the F6F Hellcat and F4U Corsair. They complimented each other very well and together pretty much covered every task one could ask of a single-seat fighter aircraft in the PTO.

1. What would be the pairing with the Zero in the PTO ? A dive or torpedo bomber ?

2. Eastern front. Best German and Russian pairings ?

3. MTO ? Bets pairing for the SM 79 in the anti shipping role ? Was the BF109 the pairing for the Stuka early on ?
