Yep. The dihedral tail unit was introduced after the first couple production batches, and was retro-fitted to some Mk1s also. There were many external changes to the Mk1, and the main differences on the MkVI were internal, often making it difficult to tell which is which, if the serial number is not known. Even internally, in photos at least, often the only way to tell is by the cannon feed - the Mk1 being drum fed, and the MkVI belt fed, from four ammo tanks, as included in the Tamiya kit.
 
Ditto... in addition to Terry's post I would like to say that an example of fitting Mk1s with the later tail is the Beau Mk.IF named "Bambi" , serial V8324

Passed one up at the last swap. The guy wanted almost as much as the LHS offerings which are already quite high so will wait til I see a deal at the next show. Plenty of projects to work on without it!
 
Real life is really stopping me getting anywhere on this

Think my wrestles with the Eduard Dora has sapped my confidence a bit too
