A bit more work done on this Hornisse. The finished rudder is now attached:

Next, I began work on the leading edge slats. First I attached a couple of bits of thick plastic card to act as the supports.

The slats were cut from the model and the edges had to be trimmed down to make a very thin edge. When this was done, I used the slats to trim the supports to the correct shape so that the slats maintian the correct angle

Finally, the slat is cemented in place.

Thanks for checking in.

With the P-40 now out of the way, I'll now focus on getting this 410 finished.

The next step is detailing the CMK resin DB603A. I'l be stealing a lot of ideas from "Chukw's" build over at ARC and Kitmakers. Here's the basic Daimler and misc parts to go on. The engine bearers have been noted to be curved so I may need to discard these and make new ones. The firewall has been supplied twice in the resin but should have been mirror imaged. I didn't realize this when selecting which side to display the open engine on and I've already glued the closed cowl on the starboard side for which this forewall is correct - you can tell by the location of the cooling pipes. As I'll have the port side open, this firewall may need to be fixed, although chances are it won't be seen anyway so I may not bother.

No effort spared sofar, and with this little resin goodie in place you should be able to take it to the next level. I too am very curious as to how the engine will look when it's installed. I'm sure this will end up a real show stealer, and a very useful build report for when I start mine (sometime)

Thanks guys. Has anyone tried bending resin? I'm pretty much resigned to scratch build new engine bearers but was wondering if there might be a chance...

I've used weight and heat(heat gun) a little at a time on a resin panel and got away with it. Thing is as you know they are so brittle its a scary proposition. Chuks got some mad skills does'nt he? That resin engine looks really sharp looking forward to seeing that come to life! Good luck with the resin Andy

I did it once or twice with warm (tap) water...and too have gotten away with it (as the parts were rather thick compared to others), but it's a tricky procedure because of the delicate nature of these resin parts.

Andy, I've got some injection moulded engine bearers from the ICM '109F kit, if they can be adapted? You're welcome to them if you want them.

Terry, thanks very much. I have this in my stash as well but I think this will be a pretty simple scratch job and not worth sacrificing a kit part or postage. Should have it done over the weekend.
