Tanks Vic.

Terry, just looking to include the first aid box, Googled and found several RAF kits that looked like this:

These two examples are about 8 inches square. Would I be wrong to make it look like this?

The one on the left is for a dinghy, so a little more compact than the aircraft type. Last time I saw one, it was a bit larger, more like 12 inches square, or maybe 12 inches wide, 10 inches deep. Colours could be as per the left image, or white overall.
If you have a look at the vertical mounting bracket, beneath the pilot's seat, inboard from the 'pee' tank, it'll give you more of an idea. I do have a photo, and a drawing, showing the pack in place, but there's no chance of getting to it in the near future - it's buried behind a lot of stuff due to re-arranging furniture etc !

Cheers Terry. I think both pictures above are the same type; it;s just that the one on the right is a very poor picture. I was in Nanton today and asked if they had one. One of the staffers said they likely have one in the stores somewhere but there are none in the exhibits.

Not getting much done in this build this weekend. Was in Nanton today helping with the Mossie display for a show and tomorrow I will be volunteering to clean out some flood-ravaged homes nearby.

That's about right in size and position Andy - great stuff.
I don't know if you can manage it, as it's a bit of an awkward angle, but in the rear wall of the access hatch, there was a small locker for the telescopic ladder. This had a hinged door, rectangular in shape with rounded corners, with the hinge along the bottom edge. The word 'Ladder' was stencilled, in black, centrally on the door. Top centre was a small 'key' type latch. The inner face of the entrance hatch (when you get to it) had a white notice, with red lettering, stating 'Beware of Airscrews'.

Thanks guys. Terry, I will try that detail and have seen pics of this somewhere. Oddly, our Calgary Mossie, a B.35 does not have that ladder locker. I was starring right at that area on Saturday.

I think I have a pic somewhere Andy, if you need it. If not, I can do a sketch.
EDIT: Have a look at Page 96 of the SAM guide I sent you. There are colour pics of the door, open and closed. It's actually in the front 'wall' in these shots, although I'm sure I've seen one on the rear 'wall' at some time, years ago, probably on the Mossie at Duxford, now hanging from the roof in target tug colours, but used to be on the floor, under restoration.

Thanks Terry. Yes, that trap door is definitely at the front in that reference. Should be able to replicate that easily. In the meantime, look what I found!

The only question is, what is the rack on the first aid box. Looks like it would hold a couple of bottles of some kind.

Good stuff Andy.
ow that's an interesting one - I've seen that same object, although just a shallow, flat 'plate', painted in the interior colour, positioned further underneath the seat, as the mounting bracket for the first aid kit itself.
This one seems to be the actual kit, with the brackets on the front possibly for 'Themos' flasks, or distilled water bottles?

Terry, ladder stowage is on the front of our B.35, photographed last night. Thinking about this a bit more, there's no way the ladder could be stowed in the rear side of the crew hatch as it would have to shoot into the bomb bay.

Thanks Geo, not too late at all. I think that's a photo of the same aircraft as in my colour one a few posts back. Same detail on the first aid kit. I'll leave that detail off and just finish the kit plain. The stuff under the seat is completely hidden so will not fuss with it.

Ah, forgot about the torches! (flashlights). Of course that's what those brackets are for!
Andy, you're quite right - even though the telescopic ladder, when 'collapsed', is a third of the extended length, it would have problems being stowed in the aft wall!
Evidently my memory is playing tricks with me - must be an age thing!
