Me too. I often 'squirt' a 'blob' onto a piece of card,and then use a cocktail stick to spread it along a joint.

I have found the Humbrol in the yellow plastic bottle with the needle by far the best.
Sticks styrene like glue.............. oh wait?

i still use tube glue very carefully ,yes i have done more the the builds thanks for asking,its just ive not had much time to go online for a while
