I'm old Vic...... and now we know why you are the Judge!
Not attached yet! One on the right will be rotated to the other side. Lefty, righty thingy.
Thanks guys......
Thanks guys........................ I'm at it again... seems I just can't help myself. Oh to be able to do one OOB.
Not being satisfied with the rockets. Not wanting to have to do a lot of fiddley scratch building....... why oh why do I do it.
I got the Eduard Brassin HVAR set. Well seems they don't have the hanger pieces attached to the rocket body.
They have PE straps in the kit (1). In order to get the shape of the strap, there is a bl00dy hump on the bottom side of the rocket body. I made a form for it. A piece of styrene rod with a flat piece glued to the side (2). I then cut the strap from the PE sheet and wrapped it round the form, pressing in the edges to form the bump (3).
Now because the hanger is not included, I made blocks (4), 16 of the buggers. They are from styrene flat bar, cut 3mm long. one end has a saw cut in it, to receive the turned up end of the strap. The other I drilled a .6mm hole for styrene rod which is glued in place. I drilled out the mounting dimples on the bottom half of the wing to take the rod. I'll have to taper these front and back before I install them. Then locate the strap in the proper place on the rocket and super glue these babies
It's all on account of having soooooooo much time on one's hands, keeps from getting bored, keeps one out of mischief or from plying the model shops spending money, and because YOU CAN….
That's why you do it Bill………………..and a damn fine job at that.
Never been called a pommagranite..... lots of other things tho, I Was in the Navy!
Have worked out the jig for the straps, will take some pics in a bit. Just back from 5 hours work. Time for a rummycoke! and another Star Trek movie.
Yes Vic, is because I can, or think I can when I start.
Andy, Evan, Charles and Vaughn, thanks for that.
My first wife used to tel everyone being married to me was like being the caboose on a runaway train.

1. A block of styrene 2. a couple of strips, spaced for the strap bending. 3. the PE strap. 4. to press in for the shape.

3. the strap pressed in the slot to make the squared bottom with 4 in place

keeping 4 in place I put the rocket on top of 4, then pinched the strap around the rocket to bend and the top ends are up to fit in the cut slot on the hangers.
