All is looking very good thus far Andy and don't I have not been poking mu head in just incrediably busy of late

Thanks Kevin for taking the time to post.

I'll be in Nanton today working on our Mosquito but may get the dark blue colour on by the end of the day. Pics when that's done.

Late this afternoon, I applied the dark blue, or what I thought would be the right colour. At first I used straight Tamiya XF-50 Field Blue but after getting about half way I realized the colour was too grey. So after supper I restarted, mixing up 2 parts XF-8 Blue to 1 part XF-2 Black and am much more satisfied. I was on a roll so I also masked and applied the blue rudder and red cowl ring. I left the light blue as is but did go over a few spots and patched it up a bit. Have to do the same with the dark blue tomorrow and there are a few tiny spots to touch up before coating with Future. I think I'll try brushing it on this time. Here are the pics:

Oh, and one other thing I did was to spray some Alclad Aluminum on the leading edge of the horizontal stabilizers, a detail noted on my decal sheet and arguably supported by pictures. Fortunately, I caught this before applying the Tamiya colours and masked this area first.

Nice!
I'm not sure without checking, but where the leading edges of the main wings also bare metal? They were on the unit's later P-47s, but I can't get to my 56th FG book at the moment, so can't check for this period.

Thanks very much everyone. Sure is going to be a colourful bird.

Terry, yes. I should have clarified that the masking tape is still on the leading edge in the above pics and will stay there through clear coat, decal application, and matte coat. The reason the stabilizer ones are seen is that I neglected to paint these NMF on the first go around so I did it after the camo was done. These will be masked today when the Future goes on. I don't want any further coats to go on the Alclad.

Thanks guys. Tried brushing on two coats of Future and was not happy with it. 3rd coat has been sprayed on with my Paasche VL with #5 tip and low pressure. Loks good now but will need to give it a light sand and another coat before putting the decals on.
