Hi Jeff,
I saw your build for the first time today.
As you can imagine I have many information available on that bird, so if you have any question don't be afraid to ask.
For the time being, I saw that you built and painted two torpedo but pls consider that these aircraft never carried more then one even if they were built to carry two, the reason: weight.

The above pictures cold be helpful, I think.

Jeff,
sorry if I create you a problem, but as far as I remember the camouflage you are doing refers to early times when the SM79 was only used as a bomber, so no torpedo ...
Here following are some profiles, some of them shows torpedo, many don't.

The reason is that the torpedo wasn't an option but was carried only by specialised wings.
Finally it up to you to do what you like, it's your model!!!

Jeff,
for your info, there is a decals sheet produced by Sky Models with at least two options for torpedo planes.

Alberto.

Thank you for the information. This is not a problem as I want to do this up correctly. As a matter of fact it looks like your advice may save me a lot of time as if I am looking at things correctly, the torpedo carrying aircraft appear to be the ones that are olive green overall.

I have ordered the decal sheet you have shown and work will pause now until it gets here. A quick respray of the engine cowlings is a nothing to do.

Cheers,

jeff

Coming along nicely Jeff, I've often looked at doing this machine. Maybe one day.

Alberto, you should be commended for all that input of info, very thoughtful of you.

Many thanks Vic for your comment.
In recent years I got to learn something on Italian WW2 aviation so I'm quite happy to help if I can

I enclose a few more photos.

The first two will offer Jeff a view of an "all green" bird

Okay, so my decal sheet arrived yesterday and she is a beauty. Lots of great markings BUT the instruction sheet is sadly lacking in direction and is of very little help as to placement of decals and which ones go with which aircraft.

I really like decal number thirty located in the bottom left corner and would love to do the aircraft it is for but it is not indicated anywhere on the instruction sheet. Decal number 28 is another fine choice.

Here is my plea for help for those who are far more knowledgeable than me about Italian aircraft.

Can anyone tell me which squadron/group these two mentioned markings are for. I assume they are torpedo squadrons as they show birds of prey armed with torpedos.

Secondly, can anyone give me any idea where to look for decal placement and what other decals would be used ( besides the national markings and squadron code locations.) I know I am asking a lot but I want to get this as correct as possible.

Cheers,

Jeff
