.....and now its realized that, because I am now using this kit for the early version, I've modified the wrong fuel tank cover. Finishing up the other fuselage shortly and will start the innards here anon
 
That's normally a sign that something is going to **** up at some point !
Don't think I'd like to try a "twin" build, with the same aircraft and basic colours - those Lotus 7's I'm (still ) doing are confusing enough, and they're different colours and have different features - I'd be totally b*lloxed with something virtually identical !!
 
All right. Time to start. Right off the get-go, one has to decide which starboard cockpit panel to use. As this is the "Early" version (goes back to check title) I'll use the one on the right.

I start with the seat as it looks a little finicky......it was a lot finicky. Small parts with only a small ledge to line up with. I was lucky I didn't get liquid glue all over and smear the plastic.

Aifix's call out for seat colour is Humbrol 62 - leather. According to Edgar's PDF, these seats could either be steel or black; in debations at the moment...........
 
Thanks Terry. I think I'm going to base coat the seat with silver and cover it with black allowing for some scratching. Moving on....if you want to pose the canopy closed, as is my wont, some surgery is required

Not a fan of this because once the cutting is done you are committed to a closed canopy
 
Yes.......Cut out and did a test drive with the clear parts, all good. Sprayed the parts that were to be aluminium as well, kinda good. This time I used Tamiya XF-16 Flat Aluminum instead of Vallejo just to see the difference and Vallejo is far better. Painted the tanks X-32 Titanium Silver again for a tonal change. Gluing the lil bits that will be painted Interior Green shortly, not good. The rudder pedals (2) need to be mounted on 1mm pegs, the openings on the rudder pedals are half moon shaped. The joy stick is a two piece affair when every other freakin' model producer can make it in one. Maybe this is to allow the ailerons to be posed, I dunno. On top of this, the got the spade grip wrong.

I'm going to remove and replace the gun button and add the lever

The way the Canucks have been playing, I'm planning a cry. A while ago, a few of us were planning to create a drinking game. Every time the announcer said, "The Canucks fail to get it out of their end", "The Canucks give it away in their own zone" or similar words, every one drinks. We gave up as we realized no one would be sober before the first period ended. Anyhoo...spade grip roughed in and will be tidied up after the game. I'll add the lever then as well

I was already following this work, but now that you have decided to do one of the first Spitfires I follow it more closely, because I am also doing the same model but on a 1:24 scale. The old Airfix.
Unfortunately my right arm had a small accident at work and so now I am forced to sit still and wait for better times to resume... I don't know if I can do it for this GB, but as soon as I can, I'il post what I've been able to do... In the meantime I follow with admiration
