Thanks guys..................... had to find another solution to an assembly problem!
So, looking at "A", if I were to attach the side clamp piece, how do I get the rocket in place?
I would have to cut the fins off, insert the rocket tube and re-attach the fin....... yeah right.
Chances of getting them in-line and looking okay are slim, CA glue!!!!!!
So I came up with removing the Long tail "B", which extends down the side.
I then glued it "C" in place which will capture the rocket tube "D" when set.
I can then paint these rails, put the rockets in place and Then glue that tail in place,
and touch-up just that tail and the attaching point. See, scratch building Can be so much FUN!!!!!
Off I go, cutting and gluing...........................................

Actually you could make the mounting clamps using a thin plastic strips shaped by pressing and bending on a nail or someting like that. Below an example I found via the net.

However I looked over the matter slightly more. At least there were two types of the mounting clamps for the RP-3 rocket missile. Their shape depeneded on the launcher railway type. The first one ( the most popular, IMHO) was the railway with the inner pylon runner and the second on with the external runner. Both of them were made of a metal strip shaped as you may notice in the pics below.

The bottom part of the clamp seems to be the same for all of the mounts. There was a round holes for a clamping screw.

And here the one that was used for the launcher you want to replicate ... it can be noticed that the external clamp slider was just of two bolts attached to the clamp top sides and going into the slot of the railway. The shape of the inner part of the clamp top looked like a cup in its cross section.

And.............................. this one is 1/24th!!!!! Twice the size of what I am trying to do.

I threw out what I was doing and have taken a similar tack to Andy!
It all just became too much, then I saw the Light. Have some copper sheet.
Need I say any more. Now I can paint and assemble easily with CA.

That's gonna look great. Mine is a compromise. If you look closely you can still see parts of the original plastic mounts hidden behind the brass. That's because the brass is very weak and would have been fiddly to keep the rockets secure. Hopefully the copper will be fine.
