American Assigned to 24th PG in Philippines evacuated to Australia. Went to Java with the 17th PS and then 7th FS 49thFG in Australia and New Guinea completed tour and was credited with downing 4 Japanese Zeros.
On his 2nd tour he deployed to the European Theatre of Operations and was assigned to 79th FS, 20th FG. Gave up command of the 79th FS due to combat fatigue. Transferred to 554FTS, 495FTG, 8AF USAAF. Completed Tour Duty (ETD).
Flew LT-6G Texan FACs in Korea 1951-52.

Fighter Operational Clasp MIA 10 August, 1942 during aerial combat at Stalingrad after being hit by fragments from a Soviet aircraft. In the JG-53 Chronicles, he is credited with a Battle on 30 Septmber, 1939 which was not found in the OKL Claims List. Shot down with wounds on 2 September, 1940 and managed to get back to Boulogne where he made a force landing (Prien). His first victory, a Wellington over Sedan, 14 May, 1940. His 7th victory, a Hurricane of RAF No. 126 Sq., piloted by P/O Marcus W.T. Kidson over Malta on 5 March, 1942. Kidson crashed into the sea off malta. His first known Soviet victory, a DB-3 on 23 June, 1942. His 9th, a Pe-2 on 26 June, 1942. His 10th, an Il-2 15 km SE of Selmjansk on 4 July, 1942. His 11th, a Pe-2 25 km E of Voronezh on 5 July, 1942. A double, his 12th & 13th, both LaGG-3s on 6 July, 1942. His 14th, a Boston on 11 July, 1942. His 15th, a Pe-2 on 26 July, 1942. His 16th & 17th, both Il-2s on 29 July, 1942. An 18th, an Il-2 on 4 August, 1942. An Il-2 and a MiG-3 on 5 August, 1942. An Il-2 on 6 August, 1942. A MiG-3 on 7 August, 1942.
