I really need to keep at it though. I got some of the oxidation off, but it still feels somewhat gritty when I run my hand down the side, not smooth yet. I am hoping that if I do it once a month for a few months, most of the oxidation will get rubbed off. But I do have to say the Rain-X wipes where you wipe the stuff on and buff it out are really awesome!

Ever use a clay bar Evan? Mother's makes one. Use that after washing, and then wax after, and your car will look like new! Clay bar picks up all the dirt, oxidation, and contaminates embedded in the paint. Easy to use and works well.

Haven't heard of that one, Bryon. Thanks for that! The California sunshine and LA smog take their toll on the paint. I am working on getting the garage clear enough to get both cars in, so it will help. But in the mean time, I want to do my best to get it back in showroom clean shine.

Eric, Mothers Polish has them. They come in a kit. Use the wax that comes with it to lubricate the clay and do small areas and fold the clay every so often to keep the dirt build up to a minimum on the clay surface. And they do work great.

I'll have to give it a shot when the weather cools a bit. It was 85 when I did that last weekend, thanksfully. On Sunday, it hit 95, and humid. This weekend is supposed to be hella hot again, so it will be a few weeks before I do anything more, but the clay does seem the way to go. Cheers, fellas!

Oh, and it comes in a box so it's not visible. Most of the auto parts stores carry this to.

I was getting some photos together for a friend this morning and found this shot taken earlier this year. Look closely at the gauges.

Something no quite right with that AH, Eric. Was it doing aeros at the time?

I find that for shots like this (or where there is any reflection off glass) a polarising filter works wonders to cut them out.

Good catch, Gumby! We were in a normal descent with an inop AH in the rear cockpit. Looks like a wild ride though.

The thing that threw me, was the sunlight (and sky reflections in the gauge faces) didn't make sense to what the Art. Horiz. was indicating versus the other instruments...lmao

I need to put a legend for the gauges. The artificial horizon (AH) is the gauge in the top row with the blue. The blue is supposed to be the sky, so if the gauge were accurate, we would be inverted and in a nose down attitude (inverted dive). That kind of maneuver will often lead to the passenger having an involuntary personal protein spill. But alas, it was just a normal descent.

I did a sunset photo shoot yesterday afternoon with a young aerobatic pilot and airshow performer. Sammy Mason is 18 years old, and has won a few aerobatic competitions already. His maneuvering is very smooth. He is the grand-son of another aerobatic perfromer from the 40s and 50s of the same name. I have been photographing him now for three years, including his first airshow. To get up in the air with Sammy in the Pitts was a real fun flight. His mom flew the photo ship, a Stearman that Sammy flew last season.

Excellent, this is neat cause you can kinda show his progress through the years. Excellent shots as always to. Those are neat aircraft to, especially for their size.

Thanks, Aaron. It's been fun watching him get better and better. His aerobatic maneuvers are very smooth and fluid. He may be flying 2 different routines at the show in January.

I could see that his ship was a smaller one, but didn't realize just how scaled down it was until the next-to-last shot!

Thanks guys. The airplane is really tiny, but really nimble. It's fun to watch, and with Sammy at the controls, it's truly magic. I will be editing some video to put up soon and you will see how nimble it is.

Unless you're flying Russina or Chinese, then the blue is the ground and the brown is the sky
