Yup, it's open. There's even an airline flying on it, called Winair, which flies from the other Dutch Antillen islands, St. Maarten and St. Eustatius. Winair
Marcel, there was a video posted around here that showe landing on that strip - viewpoint from the co-pilot's seat! Hair-raising! I believe thats in Switzerland.
But nothing beats that mountain airstrip Mel Gibson landed on in "Air America"!
That was a good link, marcel. Was that a Twin Otter? Next question for a layperson like me...would you call a twin engined like that DeHavilland a "medium" sized plane? Its a subjective use of the adjective but in general.....?

I took off from the Columbia California AP in a 150D with my rather "fluffy" girlfriend.
AP is 2,700' MSL. Waited til afternoon cool weather came up.
Got off the downhill sloped runway, hit 3,000' and could Not get one more inch of alt!!!!
Cleared all the trees..................... OHSH!T is what was going thru my mind at rotation!
