Thought I'd start a thread to show off some of my fave pics that I've taken over the past few years.

Mostly aviation orientated...lots of Mustang shots...with a smattering of jets, bikes, and just plain pics that I think are better than the rest of the ones I have taken.

There will be the odd humurous shot....I think they're funny.... such as an unidentified B17, a world exclusive of an inverted hover..and a few family shots

...is it just me or does Gary look anything but English? Every time I see his picture I think, "Hey, there is that Dude from Southern California!" No offense. You just seem "tanner" then any English man I've seen.

PS Love the B-17 and the huge hand!

    Cheers guys.

    A bit about the pics...

    First batch:

1 to 4 where taken at Duxford Flying Legends. I always go to the end of the crowdline as this gives the better photo ops ...top side passes etc...as 'planes come curving down and around onto the display line.

    5 was taken at Oshkosh

6 and 7 at GOML 2007..without doubt one of best shows I have been to to date !.

8 Ah yes, the unidentified 'Fort. I did confirm its not a G model as there is no chin turret, but it was out of shot too quickly for me to get any better pics !.

    9 Oshkosh yet again.

    Second batch:

1 and 2 Popham, a local airfield about 20 miles from home.

3 and 4 on board an RAF Tristar flying out to Cyprus.

5 My son in the RAF Red Arrows, Red 1's Hawk at RAF Akrotiri

6 Me showing some dummy my latest video camera shot at Yeovilton. Poor dummy was trying to wave a flag to launch a Phantom off the carrier flight deck...great museum, will do a photo thread on it later.

7 The hangar cat at Old Sarum airfield. Or rather, one of the hangar cats !

8 and 9 my son a few years later, having recovered from his sit in the Red Arrow Hawk, campaigning his CRF250 'crosser during last seasons MX races. He's been racing for 3 years now and finished 8 in his group last season ! Respect !...I've ridden his CRF and I have no-idea how he manages to keep the front wheel down, let alone race the ruddy thing...its an animal !

10 piccy taken on the 'Mole' at the ISYC sailing club I belonged to when I lived in Cyprus for 3 years.

11 is Salisbury Cathedral. Taken on a frosty evening to get the lighting effect I wanted from the spotlights. Very cold night that was !

12 The toad. Lives under the garden shed...or at least it did till the dog got hold of it one rainy night. Never seen a dog go frothy at the mouth so much !

And finaly, the missus giving her horse the runaround...what horsey people call 'Lungeing'.

I'll stick some more up later this evening

    Rainy day shots.

If it wasnt a hassle keeping the camera and lens dry, I'd take a whole shed load of pics in the rain !. You can get so much more interest in a shot if its reflection is either included or is the 'centre piece' of the object.

The pics dated 2004 where taken at Oshkosh in 2004 and it was a rather wet day, but warm for a visitor from the UK !. I was caught out in the rain while mooching around the 'fly market' and spent an enjoyable hour or so, nipping in and out of tents, before venturing out amongst the static area.

All the shots dated 2007 where taken on wet thursday which should have been the arrivals day for the GOML 2007. Lovely thunderstorms !.

Great shots Gary. Thank you, I wish there was a military field nearby but no such luck!

    Cheers mate.

You may not have an airfield near by, but, you do have the Iron Horse to take rainy day shots of. Think of the shots you can get off the side of some of the railroad traffic you've been taking piccie of. One of your shots in an earlier thread...the engine on its own..., would look outstanding with raindrops caught on the engine sides in close-up, and also, look for big puddles to get reflection shots in.

Go to it, and show us your results

Great stuff Gary! Snow is also interesting to take pictures in but again it is a nightmare protecting the camera.

I love the rain drops and reflection shots. I don't get the opportunity to get shots like that very often out here.

Hopefully in a few weeks I'm going to head up to Roanoke, VA. to the Transportation Museum and get some photos of the old steam locomotives, hopefully.

I love taking these types of pics, angled as much into the sun ...morning or evening, doesnt really matter...as the photo's come out very...errrr, ummmm, contrasty ?.

I find that actually including the sun in the shot gives the most dramatic effect, from hazy to dark, whatever, I love the outcome !

Noticing your 'Heritage' pic - I will be at DM March 5-8 as all the warbird show pilots combined with USAF F-22/16 and 15 show pilots - as they brief, fly, debrief and tighten up each successive day until graduation.

    I'll take my camera.
