Here is a nice shot. Caption says WASP Barbara Jane Erickson in the cockpit delivering a P-51A to Long Beach with Evelyn Sharp standing on the wing.
But I doubt that any P-51A were built and painted with the single star insignia, since they came off the line in March 1943.. The second P-51A ever built had the star and bar insignia. The airplane does have the little front side window fitted to some P-51A, although some of those seem to have been plexiglass without framing. I suspect this is an A-36A that for some reason has the little front side window.
