    Hi guys 'n' gals

Just joined what looks like a very usefull website here !.

    A bit about me...

Main interest is airworthy Warbirds...not too fussed about jets. I've taken to travelling to the States each year to get my fill of real planes (too restrictive by far here in the UK...even Duxford...'Oy, dont walk on the grass during the flightline inspection !!!').

In 2004 went to Oshkosh for the first time and got blown away when I walked into the fightertown section of Warbirds and came face to face with 21 Pristine P-51's...and not one rope barrier or 'jobsworth' to get in the way. Had a great time chatting to the owners /operators.Had a trip in the B-17 'Fuddy Duddy'...awesome !!!.

In 2005, went back to Osh and took my son this time. The look on his face when the dude up front in Fuddy Duddy opened the loud levers to take off power, when we went for a sortie in her was just....wow !.This was my second trip in a Fort and his first Warbird ride. Got a tinkling of an idea that I'd like to build my own P-51 D cockpit at this time.

In 2007 went to the most fantastic airshow I have ever been to. GOML 2007. I was like a dog with five tails...didnt know what to wag first !. 80 plus Mustangs, the guys that flew them in the last big one, and some of the best air displays I have seen in a long time... Ed Shipley and Jim Beasley as the 'Horsemen' Mustang display totally rock !!!. Went for a flight in B-25 'Pacific Prowler', again a fantastic exerience.

This year went to the CAF Airsho in Midland, Texas. Stopped off at Cavanaugh Flight Museum and had a 30 min sortie in a Stearman...wow...then stopped off at Breckenridge on the way to Midland and spent an afternoon chatting to the guys at Ezzell Aviation and finally got to sit in a 'Stang. I'm still on cloud nine !

Oh, the idea to build a P-51 D cockpit back in 2005 took hold. I now have a full panel, full set of drawings (I've started on some simple metalwork around the instrument panel to get used to wroking with metal.), a couple of sticks (1 early and 1 late model grip), a pristine Mk14 Gunsight (still with its original transport box and silica gel packs !!), a 'Stang main wheel !, and load of other bits n bobs. My intention is to slow time, build a fullscale cockpit tub from the Firewall to the pilots seat bulkhead and fit it out. when thats done, I want to make it come alive with a computer and flight sim.

Needless to say, my wallpaper and screen savers are all Mustang pics' !

If you're still reading this far, Hi !

Welcome aboard, Gary. One of these days, you need to get out to the Chino show. The Horsemen flew there last year and there are at least half a dozen Mustangs there every year. Here are a couple of my 'Stang shots for you to drool over. ;)

Hi guys and thanks for your greetings.

Eric...stop it ! If I drool anymore, I'm gonna end up with wet feet !

Terry, no worries, but before I start posting pics of my meagre effort, in the wrong place, where is the best section to post ?.
