I had a need today to figure out who amongst our esteemed group knows about instruments and I ended up shouting out to a couple of names and omitting others who could also help.

Which got me thinking - do we have a thread listing forum members who are experts or knowledgeable in certain subjects? I can only go by memory when I need such info but it would be great if we had a dedicated thread for this. Members with particular areas of expertise could declare so in this thread.

Thoughts?

Don't mention Skivvies where I can read it!!!!!!
Boot camp, Navy. I made up a bunk for a "shipmate".............. pfffft.
He was gonna tie up my Whites in return. He F'n didn't.

Wracking whats left of my brain out since you posted this. Possibly put a sub-thread here and those with a wealth of the appropriate knowledge could post their forum name and the areas they feel they are well-versed in....

How to get all onboard might take some doing

Maybe more of a relevant reaction. How should this be done? I don't really see who is going to estimate someone's expertise in an objective manner. Also these lists tend to deprecate really quickly.

But of you have some ideas, I'm all open for it.

Doesn't seem to be generating any real interest so I'm prepared to drop the idea.
It's actually a good idea - this forum has some really experienced members: authors, engineers, historians, etc.

How to get them all in one place will be the challenge.

We've also lost quite a few along the way, too - like Joe, Michael and far too many others.

Agreed, I am not against the idea, but I don't see the implementation at the moment. That does not mean that it's not doable. If we can find a way, we could do it.

So I thought maybe to simply edit my intro thread to add the names of people we could ID as the experts. If any of these folks object to being identified as such, I would simply remove the name.

Michael Hope (Propellers) and Engineman (WW2 Engines) would be examples. I could throw my name in for the DH Mosquito too but it's more on the technical side.
