Medal of Honor recipient dies

John McGinty III, a retired Marine Corps captain who received the Medal of Honor for his efforts to lead, protect and rally his platoon during an assault in the jungle of Vietnam, died Friday at his home in Beaufort, SC.

He was awarded our nation's highest military decoration as a staff sergeant.
