Hi Gents,

No small scale builders here?
I have crafted numerous aircraft masters for RAIDEN MINIATURES in the UK.
Any interest in seeing how a 1/285 scale Ki-27 would be built?

Here is a sample shot of some of my work

Good stuff. I haven't touched anything that small for around thirty years, and then They were mostly two-piece kits. Nowadays, I'd have problems seeing them, and no chance of holding the parts with my knackered hands!

kettbo,
I build 1/72 so I can fit more onto the 2'x4'x6' two shelves I built. But 1/285....? WOW, to go where no man has gone before......awsome go get 'em kid. We're behind you.....Where in the world did you find a 1/285 Nate? Can't wait to see it.

SCRATCHBUILDING IT. Thought I'd have some worthy pics by now... alas, behind schedule a tad. Have faith....

How to:
scaled plans, many pictures, sheet or strips of styrene, basic tools, lots of patience, and the ability to view things 3D helps
In relative terms, I paint horribly

Sorry this took so long, got tied-up with some real estate

OK start with a good large plan. 1/285 scale Bf-109G for comparison

cut around with your favorite cutter. end nipper works great, file up to the line. be uniform, completed basic unit, Ki-27

Hey George!

Just found this post...hoping that you'll be continuing on with it. I'll actuall be trying it myself with a Mirage F-1

PDXS3t,
No name?

I did a charity cycling event in SEPT, sustained some nerve damage in my hands. Tingling now only in my finger tips. I will resume construction soon. Please look at the 1/144 GUSTAV build for more construction tips. Ahhhh, Mirage F-1 sounds interesting!

Hey George!

I be called Jim but answer to most anything! Sorry to hear about your injury. I can totally relate. I have a nasty nerve disorder trying to rob me of my left arm and both feet.

I've been collecting 1/285 modern aircraft for several years. Actually have a few of your creations. When I found this thread, I was stoked! I've always wondered the type of process that it took to create a micro miniature.

There is several miniatures missing that I'd love to see, the Mirage F-1 is one of them. If I can manage something that kind of resembles an airplane I'll be happy. I have lots of time to practice though, so who knows what I migh end up with.

Take care and get well soon!

Jim
