waiting to hear from my youngest brother, he lives in Cairns, on the northern side, told me yesterday his problem would be the storm surge whether it was at high or low tide.....definitely "feet wet" if it happened at high tide.....

Well it seems Cairns got lucky Wayne, the worst affected areas seems to be the small towns like Tully. My brother in-law lives in Cairns, and according to my wife, he didn't seem too fazed by the whole thing.
Get ready to pay big bucks for banana's though, they're saying 85% of Australia's banana crops have been wiped out. Small price to pay for no loss of lives though.

Sounds about right Andy.
.....just heard from my brother, said it was real wild night , the wind sounded like he had a jet hovering over the house all night, he has no power and the surge didn't happen, but there are plenty of trees where they shouldn't be....
