For those how do live (or have lived) in the southern United States these are not too exceptional, but are impressive nontheless. For those who live in the calm western states, you only see this on rare occasions.

There is nothing like a lightning storm to calm the nerves of a redneck. As a small boy, I used to love to sit in my Mamau's enclosed porch and swing on her glider, listen to the storms and smell the ozone. Oh man the memories...

Okay, since Njaco has graciously allowed me to post on his thread, I bring you...

HOLES

First up Kimberley Big Hole - South Africa. Apparently the largest ever hand-dug excavation in the world, this 1097 meter deep mine yielded over 3 tons of diamonds before being closed in 1914

They had to close the road that runs next to Kimberley Big Hole because they found that it is being sucked in by the Hole. It was a volcano way back and many people have jumped into the hole and died.
