Thanks Marcel, the original shot was really dull and grey due to a overcast day, I did edit it in Lightroom 5 and some sliders in Nik color eff. pro.

Ah, thanks. You overdid it slightly, and that actually worked pretty well in this pic (to my taste at least). It really looks like it was digitally created. You know, contrast just a tat higher than normal, just a little too smooth. I got the same feeling with the red Stearman. As I said, not a negative comment, sometimes it's good to make it deliberately look like it was fake, while it is a real photo. I quite often use the 'low light' effect of darktable on pictures which tries to mimick what eyes see in the twilight. You can see some of those pictures in my own thread. What effects did you use?

No problem Marcel, I didn't take your comments as negative. I enjoy getting everyone's feedback on my work. Sometimes if I don't like the way a shot came out but I kind of like it, I'll play with in Lightroom or Nik to try and save it, I also on occasion use Topaz. For the life of me I can't recall what settings or effects I used in Nik, but in Lightroom I used the basic sliders, contrast, white balance, shadows etc. Played with the Clarify and sharpen. The Stearman I only used Lightroom 5.4, lowered the highlight white balance, raised the blacks and lowered the shadows. I didn't really do that much to it The final result was pretty much as it looked to the eye well except for the wide angle lens  Metering was a problem due to the backlight and hazy sky.

Here are the two shots as seen straight out of camera without any post processing.
