Thanks Aaron, just getting use to it. I have quite a bit to learn about using it. I think you should use a tripod if possible. The depth of field thing still gets me. My memory retention isn't what it use to be.

Really cool shots, ontos!

In super closeups, I have to mess with my DoF a little, and half the time I mess it up...

Awsome colors on the floral shots!

As far as the tripod goes, it's a huge help...but most new cameras have an Anti-Shake feature, is your's equipped with one?

And I've been told that when we get older, the memory is the second thing to go...

This morning I was out watering my garden then this came over, I had to run in and get my camera. While I was taking these pictures I had another flying friend drop by.

Thanks for all the comments. The C-47 is "D-Day Dolly" based at the Riverside Airport. That Hawk hangs around quite a bit, I have four bird feeders plus the Hummingbird feeder and he thinks he can get a good meal, but rarely catches anything. He is beautiful to watch. Can anyone tell me a good lens that wood be between the 100 and 500mm. My 300 is as Dave's, it does not have image stabilization, so the shots of the C-47 are slightly blurred.

Id go for a smaller stop on the flowers Ontos with a cable or timer release as they dont move you can take your time and use a slow shutter and stop down f22 ish to get more depth of field or pull back a tad and crop to get the depth
still nice shots though Im suprised you got anything with the snatched C47 mine just end up in the bin birds are very cool well done mate.

Nicely done. The Goony Bird is a C-53 Skytrooper. I think Canon has either a 100-300 or 100-400 that I see a lot at the air shows. One thing you can do to stabilize your shots is to put your left hand further down the lens, toward the opening. I do that a lot when fully zoomed and it does reduce the vibration, especially at 500mm.

Can anybody tell me if there is a air museum in Southern California that has a Nakajima, Ki-43 1a ? :D
Only about 6 left in the world, three of them are IIb models...

None of them are in California :(

Keep your fingers crossed though, there's been talk that the Texas Airplane Factory (of the Me262 replica fame) is thinking about making replicas of the KI-43.

Just for fun I thought I would try to do some picture frames I saw on the web. What do you think? It was fun to make, you learn how to use all kinds of different filters.
