After one year, I'm back with my pictures from vacations... 2006 this year.
Last weekend, I've been to Vsetín, a small town (36,000 citizens) on the Czecho-Slovakian border, in the region called Wallachia (Valašsko). It was a birthplace of my grandfather and I go there every once a year. The hockey fans might be also interested in the fact that Vsetin is the most successful team in the Czech NHL - having 6 titles in a row, plus some other.

The story about the Apple Hill and my grandfather

I already noticed my grandpa was born in Vsetín, in 1924. In 1944 (he was barely 18 at that time), he was about to graduate from Gymnasium there. But he joined the partisans in the local hills and helped the advancing Red Army to liberate this area by blowing trains, sending messages, etc (I don't know a lot, unfortunately he died when I was 7... :( ).
Once the German soldiers attacked his group that was based near the top of the Apple Hill. He tried to escape and they shooted at him. He literally rolled all the way down while the German troops kept open fire on him. Fortunately, he reached our house in the valley and his parents kept him hided there in a warderobe for some other few weeks, until the Germans were kicked out by the Red Army.
My Grandpa later flew gliders and taught the the University. He died in 1992.

Hehehe. Hey guys, if he like to drink piss, leave him alone - Everyone what his is.
More pictures taken from/on the hill Jabloňová. (When I'm thinking about it now, the propper translation should be "The Apple Tree Hill"...)
