Staff Sergeant
I noticed what I think is the starboard (right) main wheel rut almost end just before the building, indicating a possible release of the brakes as the pilot/riding-victim took his feet of the brakes as they reached for the ejector handles perhaps - indicating further that the Hunter was moving at some speed when it started to use the single or dual brick (only) wall as a break.
Also being that era (mid 30's - early 70's hanger building), the roofing is likely to be of canvas, grey asbestos or glass fibre concrete pressed panels, and so very fragile to rapid loadings - unfortunately what seems a wooden 2"x4" or 3"x6" transverse joist was in the way - with the luckiest lucky rabbit foot and one of Jan's 13's, the firing seat was what hit the joist if the seat would be towards the rear center of the hole closer to the camera.
Otherwise the ejectee - if they were strapped in, would be at beast concussed with a broken neck, at worst, would be haunting the hanger in the future. Any news to when and where this event occurred in the UK?
