Went out yesterday and didn't see a single train. The yard at Dante was empty so I went to Trammel and waited for three hours in the snow and all I got was shots of the tunnel. Took this one to give some perspective. The second one is just cause I was there. Oh, and Syscom, this is the Sandy Ridge Tunnel.

I finally found that web-site that I've mentioned a couple of times that features engines that never made it off the drawing board. It is actually a page off of a larger site. Here's what I was talking about though. Hexaplex Delurium. Just imagine something like that rolling along. I don't know how successful they would have been but man, they would have been a wonder to watch.

Aaron: Where is that Sandy Ridge Tunnel located ?

As a kid, I grew up right alongside the B&O in Baltimore, MD and use to play along the tracks. I remember the old
steam freights, and the old "Dockside Switcher" engine. Don't have any tracks around here that are in use. I
miss seeing trains, even if they are diesel.

I do enjoy these pictures tho.... thanks...

Charles, it is located on the old Clinchfield rail line northwest of Dante, Virginia. The snow shots were taken from the Trammel end of the tunnel. If you have the Google Earth program you can type in Dante,VA and it will take you straight to the town and from there you can follow the tracks north out of Dante and locate the tunnel. And you are very welcome for the photos. I don't get to shoot the airplanes as much as I would like so I settle for the trains. If you have any request I will do my best to get it.

Oh, and I forgot to post the website that the Hexaplex Delerium was on sooooooo......http://www.dself.dsl.pipex.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/locoloco.htm , enjoy.
