Thanks Wayne - taken a few years back. Port Waratah area. Newcastle NSW Australia. About the same time the coal train drivers went on strike and the yards were unusually quiet and unusually full.

Beautiful pictures. My first job after WWII was a telegraph operator with the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (B&O). I love to hear a train whistle today. Have many fond memories. I worked in the control tower at Wellsboro, Indiana controlling the crossing, B&O(double track), Grand Trunk(double track) and Pierre Marquette(single track). We ran an average of 25-30 trains in an eight hour shift. Sixty seven manual levers controlled the crossing. Thinking back, this was the best job of my career.
