Today we continue the journey up the coast............we almost. We set out from the seals intending to have a leisurely drive up to San Francisco, at times it was quite foggy and we made good time until just a couple of hours out of Carmel when the wagon developed a this sort of hunting noise when accelerating up hill. I had the filling the auto clutch was slipping. However our driver kept on going but when we had to stop a traffic lights on a road repair, we were engulfed in the acrid smell of burning rubber and smoke belching from under the hood. Needled an emergency exit was made from the vehicle by all.
So it was here that we were stuck for over 5 hours waiting for a replacement vehicle. When it arrived all we really wanted was to head for San Francisco but unfortunately our tour organises insisted that we still do the "17 Mile Drive," and "Monterey" so by the time we got to San Francisco it was completely dark. Hence no pictures from this area.
As for San Francisco, it lived entirely up to it's reputation and turned from quite warm to bitterly cold as the day progressed, it was also very hazy.
Here are a series of the pictures taken on this day. This was the roadwork's.
The haze of San Francisco.
Memories of Mrs Doubtfire.
The Golden Gate Bridge and it was bl**dy cold and windy, but we walked it and I still needed my shades.
Alcatraz and no we didn't call in.
