Thanks for looking in folks. As hinted this holiday was also a sort of gourmet vacation, we knew of a few nice places to eat and were determined to check them out.
First up was a little place we stumbled on in Ubud's main street. Wanting a cuppa this little treat was just itching to be eaten. Called 'devils delight'……………..it was yum……………shame I had to share it with the missus.
We now move onto the 'Bridges' restaurant in Ubud, there is an earlier photo showing the open fronted dining area. These appetisers were: pear and prosciutto salad and a Chevre-beetroot brulee
For mains we had the twice cooked duck breast and pan fried barramundi.
The dessert was the hard selection but in the end we just could not pass the cinnamon crème brulée.
All washed down with plenty of Majito's and some nice Sauvignon Blanc, Australian of course.

These next two were at a place caller 'Cardumum' and in the first on it is not so much the food as more the presentation, the accompanying salad to grilled prawns in for want of a better word, jam jars.
From the same sitting, this Babi Guling (suckling pig) Indonesian style.
Hope this doesn't put any of you folks off your food.

they are great Vic, keep the food shots coming if there is more, always looking for new ideas and i do like that cinamon brulee presentation

I almost had the biggest of disasters with all my photographs. I'd moved them to an external drive while doing a clean-up of my laptop and……….you guessed it………..deleted the lot. They were in the deleted box of the external drive but this was not accessible through my computer. Luckily a friend has some recovery software and he was able to pull everything back, al be it in the biggest jumble I had ever seen. I've spent the last two weeks, sifting and sorting this jumble and am happy top say, I got about 90% of my photographs back and they are now stored in three places, one being an old laptop. So now I can continue.
From Bali we moved onto Singapore staying flash ion a hotel facing the city bay. These are the day and night views from our hotel window. The haze in the day shots was the humidity which was very high.

Thanks for popping in guys.
While in the rather historic city we decided to take one of the conducted tours, on this occasion it was to check out the Arabic quarter. At the start though we passed by this rather flash looking art deco hotel. Would you believe it was built in 2005. We were also told of the wine racks within the hotel, they are in a large reception area and rise from street floor up three levels. It is told that the cheaper the wine the lower down it is in the rack, in the photograph we were shown, at the very bottom was a bottle of Moet Champagne! Also to pick a bottle from the rack, the assistant to the Maitre d is hoisted aloft in a harness. I wonder if he gets danger money.
We then moved onto Beach Road where they have maintained the original shop-houses built on the instruction of Samford Raffles who was afraid the then wood and reed houses were a fire hazard so he instigated the building in brick and mortar of these shop-houses with shade walkways in front. Beach Road by the way was the original beachfront road in Singapore, it is now quite a long way back from the water front.

Merv, believe it or not, yes there are two very good reason for the empty streets. As I mentioned this is the Arabic quarter and we were there at the tail end of Ramadan, the time when all good Muslims fast during the daylight hours and feast and socialise at night. Consequently if you have no business or work to go to, you just sleep during the day. Come nightfall many of the Muslims would be out an about after evening prayer and the shops would stay open quite late. It was also about 10:30 in the morning and this district is now where all the night life is for the young and trendy and many of them would probably still be recovering.
