Continuing with this little bit of Singapore here is a tough of the old Chinese influence.

As mentioned, it was towards the end of Ramadan and here we are in the main tourist shopping street of the Arab Quarter with the mosque in the background.

Looking in the other direction one gets a picture of the old and new Singapore.

Here I'm being decked out in the traditional Malaysian dress complete with dress dagger. Please nor guys, no SHADES!!

No Mat, this one was more for ceremony and was a shape without a blade. Even so If I wanted one, I'd have to get a licence to bring it back home, our customs can be very tricky with thinks like this.

I thought I'd continue with the touring, this time going back to 2007 when Hil and I on account of my Mum getting very old (98 years) we did three trips back to the UK. We flew into Europe via Copenhagen where we stopped over for a couple of days and as luck would have it, my camera packed in after taking two pictures...................................Oh well, I'll just have to go back again sometime!!

What started out as a dull and very wet day on arrival, ended up blistering hot and we both got sun burned.

My Mum liver in Cleveleys which is the northern end of that steaming holiday metropolises of Blackpool on the north west coast, not exactly the utopia of English seaside holiday resorts. Here we are at the extreme north end in Fleetwood a former fishing port and the home of 'Fishermans Friends.' This statue is dedicated to the families waiting for the fishing fleet to return.

While on this two month long trip, we spent some time in London, but more of that next time.

Thanks for looking in guys. While visiting my Mum, rather than tire here out with constant daily visits, we would spend a few days with her and also take short breaks, beetling off somewhere for in England or Europe, and then scuttling back for another few days by here side in Bllackpool.

First port of call on one of the breaks was naturally London. We wanted to try the 'London Eye' which I believe was one of the first of many big wheels to spring up around the world. It was a hot hazy day, take note Terry, it wasn't raining and some of the pictures reflect this. Here are some of the more well known sights of London.

The Houses of Parliament

St Pauls Cathedral

St Pancras Station where one now gets the Eurostar high speed train into Europe.

A look at the pod we were travelling in and the one following us.

The 'Gherkin' as it is commonly known and what was one of the more noticeable modern buildings on the London skyline.

Another couple of views of the Houses of Parliament. The first one has the old Battersea Power Station to the right of the tower. The four white chimney stacks.

One of the tourist barges that ply up and down the Themes.

Nelsons Column in Trafalgar Square.

Last of all Buckingham Palace.

There you are, you've now had a tour of London!!

Great stuff, Vic. I haven't been to London since 1988, so it looks like there are a lot of new things there. I always liked the contrast in Europe of old and new buildings. We just don't have that here.

Thanks for looking in folks and my apologies for the delay in posting more pictures, life has been getting in the way this last couple of weeks.

Continuing with the London theme this fist couple of shots is somewhere that is often seen during interviews on the UK news. It's the Royal Court of Justice in Fleet Street.

Next we have a series of pictures taken at an area called 'Little Venice' which is hidden away behind Paddington Station. Here you can take a canal barge ride up to London Zoo and onward to Camden.

The next bunch show in order, one of the many bronze statues placed up on the roof ledges of London buildings. We counted more than 13 but they were only up for a short period during that summer.

Next Tower bridge and then the Tower of London seen from a couple of not so well known angles.

Lastly yet another iconic bit of modern London architecture.

My Fiance is planning on us travelling to London next summer on our way to south-eastern Europe...it should be alot of fun!
