I figured it was time to get my pics thread going again. For those of you who are not in the know, I've just come back from a long holiday that took me to the north east coast of America and Canada and then to the central east (Mississippi) and into the deep south before winging over to Frankfurt (Germany) and the Lisbon (Portugal).

So what follows over the next few months folks is my pictorial snapshot of this trip. Hope you will enjoy.

First stop was a couple of nights in LA which gave us a whole day to mooch around. We (that's Hil and I) had been to LA before so knew the ropes and that the bus service was top notch and cheap as chips. The Tar Pits were first on the list, somewhere we missed last time.

It was then onto the Farmers Market (by foot) and were we glad to get there as it was stinking hot and a long drink was in order.

I remember the bangers from last time and if I'd had a barbie I'd have snagged a few and cooked them. Also thought the pig face mince was kind of quit.

Anyone for a spot of chilli. All types from hot, damned hot, frigging hot and WOW……………….lost my voice.

Following this it was down to Santa Monica shore and a trip to the pier for a classic soda fountain at Soda Jerks. This blip flew over as we wandered around.

Oh I remember the La Brea tar pits from a family trip near 40 yeas ago. Still have the bronze(?) condor my Dad bought me in the gift shop some where. Made me miss the old man, but a great memory was brought back. Thanks Vic!

Great pics Vic. But no bacon ............

Mmmmm………………………now let me see…………………..I had some somewhere……………….

Ohhh!…………………sorry, that's not it………………………………………..

Ahh!...........................here tis…………

I grew up in Southern California and remember the tar pits well. There's two miseums nearby that are worth the visit (if a person had the time), the science museum and the museum of natural history.

That blimp is based out of Long Beach, there's a large golf course there that surrounds the landing area. Kind of amusing when you're on the links and the blimp comes in to land!

Thanks for posting, looking forward to more!

Thanks for looking in guys.

Today were in New York where we had an apartment for a week on 49th Street East not far from the UN Building. After the initial shock of all those high buildings and some vital shopping in the first couple of days we'd scheduled for a Bag Onion walking tour over the Brooklyn Bridge.

A couple of close up pics of some of the architecture of New York.

The Big Apples finest, just a little run-around cop car.

We walked the Brooklyn Bridge along with ever other tourist in New York. On top of that we were also warned about the cyclists using the bridge. Just don't get in there way, after all they DO own the bridge.

The Williamsburg Bridge from the Brooklyn Bridge.

Have not seen this before but it was to be a sight we came across often. Humans do funny things at times and this was just one example of decorating the bridge with padlocks.

Sun set from Brooklyn overlooking the Hudson River and Manhattan.
