Hi Wayne. Finally figured out how to open your 'attached' images!
That's some truly fantasticmodelling, ever thought of working in the model-making area of the motion picture industry? Think you'd be a great asset!

Is the rod that holds the cockpit glass attached at both ends or does the maintenance crew only use it to prevent an over-rotation against the fuselage? I would suspect the latter (i.e., its not a pneumatic hinge dampener).
 
Matt, the main canopy section is attached to the rear canopy frame via a short piece of wire that has a spring close to the attachment point on the rear canopy.

In the first two pics you can see the spring if you follow the wire back to the rear canopy section.

Also here is a pic of the other armour plate with the bullet proof glass that I said I would show you...
