Deductible and coinsurance. But the good news is a big discount for services. Part A hospital coverage was paid while working. B is option and you have to pay. D for Rx is a big mess that results when the govt designs anything. You have to pay for that also. Look into to medicare replacement plans. Some are good. I'm a big fan of AARP plan with united healthcare. I not at the age for it yet but have worked with them for years with my job.
You guys should talk.

That $310 is just for one person. Medicare does not cover the family like a company health plan. And then you need to pay for a Medicare Supplement to help pay for the stuff that Medicare does not pay for. And then Obamacare came along and they started charging for things they had not before. My Mom went to the ER about 5 months before she died. Just in the ER and out after a few hours; she had passed out. And months later, after she died, we got a bill for $800 because the ER doctors had joined a company to charge for their services and Medicare or the supplemental plan did not cover that.

Yeah - we have scum medical practices and hospitals here in Aus as well. One opthamologist I went to (referred by my GP - you cant see one without a medical referral here) was given a long detailed medical history with accent on my alergies. @!#$%^ quoted $1,000 per eye for a simple procedure I had done elsewhere for $170 total. Also prescribed sulpha drugs that I am critically allergic to which is why I changed. When the second one sent me to another for a specific treatment he did not do the second specialist commented that he wished he could do that previous operation as well as that.

My retirement timeline is - at 60 I start collecting my Army Reserve pension, which will be about 22% of base pay for my rank and time in service. Then SS kicks in at 62 to 70, 67 is full retirement age, but I can start collecting early, or delay til 70. Then I have two rather underfunded retirement accounts that can be tapped without penalty at 59.5.
My hope is to use the first few years of the military pension to pay off/down my crushing debt while I'm still working.
Like Fubar, I actually like my factory job. But we'll see how the body holds up.
We are in the same age bracket. Retirement age 67. Just before the system runs out of money. Sad thing is my SSI payment will be more than my monthly take home was the past 10 years. So glad I got the civil service position now. Free insurance, a little pension. I can pay off the house and bills before I retire. Just about the time the warranty on my body wears out. I don't get many calls about extending my manufacturing warranty.

Ok gentlemen, I am only 4 months removed from my health insurance/medicare life. I can try to answer any questions you have. If I don't know, I can make up sh@$ as well as the insurance representative. 😎

Today is July 3 here - 03/07/2023. This morning I got an email, via my ISP, from the nightmare bloody network (Australia's government owned sole internet backbone) saying

Maybe they mean today, or tomorrow, or more likely who knows when and at what time. !@#$%^&*()_ incompetent public "servants".

Yep, NBN is the most incompetent network supplier. Never let them onto your property without you being there to supervise & stop them from damaging your house, driveway etc.

Unfortunately the Government has given them cart blanch to enter even if you try to stop them with a shotgun

yeah

The nbn wireless tower near us was installed mid October one year and switched on early October the following year. For non Australians they officially changed their name from NBN to nbn - probably because they are too lazy and stupid to know how to use the shift key.

nbn = equals nightmare bloody network run by nothing but nongs with no bloody nous.

Up in PNG the wireless networks are set up with multiple routes so if one fails all the others remain operational. We lost service for eight days because here they are in a chain with a single input so when it or another tower fails every other tower downstream is dead until the one is fixed - and in our case the spare part had to come from overseas because they do not carry that part as a spare.

@#$!@#$%!@#$%!@#$ amatuers

Lucky us. Long before NBN was a political word we got a network (TransACT) set up in the city that has been expanded on as each new suburb is created and we are spares all that sh1t that is associated with NBN and the stupid political interference that has gone on for well over a decade. I truly feel for you guys. :D

i sometimes think you guys think i make this stuff up ?

so today, 2 ladies on a spa day which includes a 2 course lunch, they order 2 x Korean fried chicken starters and 2 x Caeser salads with grilled chicken for main courses.
they request that one of the Caeser salads is made gluten free, i inform them that that is no problem but the starter they picked cannot be made gluten free.
"that's ok, i'll still have it" they say

so i send out the starters, again confirming they are not gluten free.
"i dont have an allergy to gluten" she says.

starter plates come back with one hardly touched.
is there a problem i ask.
no she said she has a small appetite and was saving herself for her main course but can she add a portion of fries to her Caeser salad !

i send out the main courses and barley 2 minutes later the waitress says they have picked up their drinks and left without touching the food.

we find them in the bar and ask what is wrong, why have they left their main courses untouched ?

"i have a deep fear of fish", she says "and when i saw the anchovies in the salad i panicked and ran out"

now it clearly states on my menu that the Caeser salad has anchovies in it but she didnt read that !

i give up !

There is not a single story that you can tell me that I would not believe.
