Back in Oct last year I saw something that I would not normally expect to see ...
I was sat in the home office when I saw a strange movement out of the corner of my eye.
Outside my window a wasp…aka Yellowjacket / annoying bastard etc etc… had got caught in a spiders web and with all the commotion, out came Spidie. Now a Wasp is a tough old bit of aggression on wings and even though generally disliked by all, deserves a bit of respect…but not from Spidie. A quick bite then a partial wrap to make sure said annoying bastard could not get away then retire a safe distance to watch and wait for the right time to go in a finish things off for chomping on later.
This was a decent sized wasp but have to say Spidie had been working out. Spidie turned out to be a False Widow with some awesome markings. I did wonder if he'd get stung but clearly chomping down on Yellowjackets was second nature to this Web Developer

Took me few attempts to take pics through the double glazing as my phone kept focusing on the background but I eventually managed a few decent pics. Eventually Spidie carted off the now no longer functioning Wasp for a well earned feast in the last pic
That's a Wasp and False Widow all within a foot of where I normally sit...albeit on the outside thankfully. Going to start watching this dude to see what else he gets

And nope, I won't burn the house down or call in an air strike as actually, I find our eight legged friends fascinating. Think I should come up with a name for Spidie…any suggestions
