Quite the speed bumps on that deck! The checker plate is a but out of scale, what? Looks great though.

What are those huge tube thingies for, along the side of the hull?

Terry, those are the Exhaust stacks mate! Angled back to the rear and away from the deck to ensure the smoke does not interfere with flight operations.

IJN was obsessed with smoke discharge, though I suspect they had to given the light weight of many of their Carrier a/c.

next stage, done a few days ago...added the detail under the rear flight deck filled the ejector pin marks and added some small, what appear to be exhaust outlets of some kind mid way down the flight deck.
