That is dreadful!!! I wouldn't make a point of listening to any of that. People (rightly) assume that all '80s music was garbage, but there was some awesome music around, just not anything played on mainstream radio. John Peel's late-night Radio 1 show in the UK was one very noteworthy exception.
 
What we were listening to 40 years ago, on March 16 1985.
Several songs on the list are iconic hits from the decade. About half of them still get regular airplay on "oldie stations" or satellite radio.
