I would caution you that these planes were from the extreme "spit and polish" era of Naval aviation. They were cleaned and polished dayly, even exhaust stains were at a minimum.
I love the look you have going here, Those "Yellow wings" have always been a favorite of mine. I get to start my own in about two days!

Thanks for the info Paul, just a question would you know if the wings and tail section were a gloss finish as on this scale it's difficult to replicate that finish without it looking like a toy plane?. What I would normally do is try to achieve a satin finish which I think is more realistic.

Well my patients has paid off I brushed on the Klear this afternoon and so far it hasn't effected the aluminium finish. Will allow to cure overnight and then make a start on the decals.

Thanks Guys
The decals are down with the exception of the wing stripes which don't line up with the leading and trailing edge when trying to put them at the correct angle. Will have to have a re-think on this one, might need to get my airbrush and masking tape out but only as a last resort. Anyway the decals went down fine just a little Decalsoft needed.

Wow I love that Yellow with the aluminium and black looks great with the decals :)

Really came out nice with the color patern and such an interesting type :)

Those decals look great Vaughan and good luck with the black lines, we all know what it feels like and I hate doing them.

Thanks Guys
Still working on the wing stripes. I tried using the decals supplied but they just split and disintegrated, so it looks like it will be an airbrush job which I'm not looking forward to.

Been there, my friend.
I have a suggestion, mask the outer-most delineations, spray black, then mask inward and spray the element color. Not the only way of doing it, but the easiest, I have found.

Top notch mate! I am a sucker for Grumman birds and especially in early insignias!!
