Well Guys I finally bit the bullet and sprayed the Aluminium. First I masked off the tail section I hope I've got the profile right. Then the upper wing surface running over the leading edge and wing tips. Loaded up my Iwata BR with Vallejo Aluminium ( after shaking it till I thought my arm was going to fall off)and off I went. The paint went down well and I built up the layers slowly. Now I have to be patient and allow the aluminium to cure for at least 48 hours and then protect with Klear fingers crossed it won't rub off.

Thanks Guys
I couldn't resist taking the masking tape off, I don't like to leave the tape on too long anyway, so here she is. All the masking has turned out well and I'm pleased with the tail section (the trim tab actuators haven't been painted yet will do later). I've now got to be patient and let the aluminium cure for a few days.

Absolutely amazing!! Great job, nice clean lines! I know what you mean about having to be patient while paint is curing.. Really hard when you are on a roll and then you have to stop.

Thanks Guys I was really panicking that it wasn't going to turn out as well as it has. Now I've got to be patient and allow it to cure. The Klear won't be going down till Wednesday.

Very nicely done Vaughan! Note that a coat of Klear will alter the appearance of the silver. Depending on the required finish, I often leave the 'bare metal' as is, and only seal the decals themselves with the appropriate clear finish, to match the metal sheen.

Thanks guys here's a quick sneak preview. I've sprayed the engine cowl and added the black band including a wash to highlight the rivet detail it's looking a little dull so will have to work on that one, but the rest I'm pleased with.
