Okay lads. here is my 1st ( and who knows, maybe only ) entry into this group build. She will be an OOB build to represent ship V8794 of 96 Squadron RAF.

This photo is of the aircraft to be depicted taken at RAF Honiley Warwickshire in 1943.

Cheers,

Jeff

Many thanks for that. Interesting to see the wing mounted radar antenna in your first picture has been censored out yet it is in picture #3. Very cool photos.

interesting shot from the front showing the covering on the 20mm guns. Looks like some sort of dope covering?

Great choice Jeff, and it's a nice kit overall. Tamiya even reproduced the Battle Damage Repair practice patches found on their 'pattern' aircraft, on the wings !

Yep. It was generally standard practice to cover gun apertures with red-doped fabric patches, to prevent the ingress of dirt and dust, and the reduce the possibility of 'Cold Damp' (icing) in the barrels at altitude. Some were neater than others, whilst some looked like a whole sheet of fabric had been quickly slapped in place !

Agreed. Not too bad. Especially the detail is omitted by almost all.

And here the same detail seen on the tail with the dihedral.
